Thankful Placemats

Happy Weekend!!!

I hope you have recovered from the Thanksgiving holiday.  We were blessed to be able to join friends and then family.  That's right, I ate twice. :)  And I could go for some more turkey and fixings right now!!

Well, with this week I was inspired to make some Thanksgiving placemats.  The first set are similar to these here since I had left over pumpkin fabric.

Here is the Thanksgiving side

Here is the Christmas side

And here is the second set:

Holly Holiday Card

Hello!

Are you ready for another week?  Luckily, this week includes my favorite holiday!!  I am so ready for some turkey, mashed taters, gravy, pumpkin pie- I'm getting hungry already!

Ok, enough about food.  Let's get on with the crafts. :)
Today I am sharing a card.  This one was made with the same pattern paper as my "Holiday Tree Delight" card.  However, I used the first November card sketch from Sketch N Scrap

Card Sketches due November 30th

Here is my card:

(Supplies: pattern paper, sequins, holly stamp- Recollections, sentiment- Papertrey Ink, twine- We R Memory Keepers, frame stamp- Sassafras, ink- Color Box, glitter glue- Martha Stewart)

So what's your favorite Thanksgiving dishes?
I still have several projects to complete before Thanksgiving, so I better get to it.  Thank you for stopping by and have a great day.  :)

Birthday Bash!

Happy Weekend!

I hope you are enjoying your weekend.  Mine has been great so far. :)

I have been working on some layouts for the past couple of weeks.  And even though I completely enjoy this craft, I found myself getting super frustrated.  One of the reasons for my frustration is the fact that I don't always have the right colors, patterns/style of papers or embellishments.  Another reason is that my layouts don't look like the cool, trendy, popular ones in magazines or online.
But I finally came across a quote that was eye-opening & sooo liberating [insert a chorus of angels singing here ;)]:

               "If I create from the heart, nearly everything works;
if from the head, almost nothing."  -Marc Chagall

BINGO.  So I just need to do the best I can with my limited resources and stop overthinking things.
Kind of ironic now that I think of it.  The reason I named my blog "Heart 'n Soul Crafts" is because those are ingredients in each of my projects.  Ay ya yay!

Sorry for the wordy intro.  Here is one of my "overthinking" layouts. :)

(Supplies: pattern paper- Recollections, cardstock, sequins, stickers, stitching)

It saddens me to know that he is my last living grandparent, but I'm glad for moments like these.  And at 92, he is still able to do a lot on his own.
Well, time for me to go create from my heart. :)  Enjoy the rest of your weekend and as always, THANK YOU for stopping by.

Happy Crafting,
Angie

Holiday Tree Delight

Happy Friday!!!!

Got any fun plans for the weekend?  Mine will start with another get together and I just love that.

Ok, on to the project.  Last night I was in my creative mojo and I was able to complete a card for this month's Artful Delight card sketch. Here is the sketch:

NOVEMBER CARD SKETCH ASC #38

Here is my card:

A few detail pictures first.  I added "snow" & "Christmas lights" with some glue and glitter.

(Supplies: pattern paper, cardstock, die cut tree, glitter glue- Martha Stewart, sequins, white ink- Chalk Box, sentiment- Papertrey Ink, black pen, machine stitching)

I like how this sketch allowed plenty of "white" space on the card.  I think I might use this sketch more often.
And I like how you continue to visit my blog.  I appreciate that.  Have a wonderful weekend.

Happy Crafting,
Angie

P.S.  I recently discovered a new blog- Scrapping 4 Fun and I entered this card to their challenge as well.  The challenge is to use the picture below as inspiration or at least 3 of the colors.

Lovely Lady

Howdy Y'all!

I've been spending some time in my "wanna be" craft room these past several days and realized that I hadn't updated my blog.  Yikes.

So today I am sharing a layout based on the Artful Delight November sketch.

NOVEMBER LAYOUT SKETCH ASC #38

I apologize for the grainy picture, since I used an older photo of me and my BFF. :)  She is truly a lovely person inside and out and I am grateful to have her as my friend.

(Supplies: pattern paper, cardstock, die cut flowers, sequins, machine stitching)

Ok, I've got a little confession- for some reason I have a hard time making 1 picture layouts.  There, I said it.   But hopefully, I'll get better at it.
Thank you all for stopping by my little blog land and have a wonderful day.

Happy Crafting,
Angie

Festive Friday Challenge

Happy Saturday All!

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend so far.  My weekend began with a get-together with friends last night that I haven't seen in a lonnggg time.  So it has been a great start so far. :)

Well, today I am popping in to share a holiday card.  I used the color challenge at Festive Friday blog.  Blue is my favorite color, so I just love this color combination.

I thought and thought for a few days about how to create my card.  And here is the final result:

(Supplies: cardstock, embossed paper, embossing strip- Anna Griffin, ornament die cut, white glitter glue- Martha Stewart, stamp- Stampendous, mini pearl- Doodle Bug)

I think I'll continue using this color combination for more cards.
Enjoy your weekend and I'm thankful that you chose to stop by for a visit.

Happy Crafting,

Hello!

Howdy!

How is your week going so far?  I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around the fact that Thanksgiving and Christmas are ALMOST here!!!!  Wow, where did the YEAR go?...

Well, today I am sharing a super, duper simple card.  I actually began making this card for a challenge and it was not going as I intended, so I set it aside for a few days.  But I didn't want to leave it unfinished, so I just added a few things and left it CAS.

(Supplies: cardstock, white & red ink, flower stencil- Martha Stewart, ribbon, sentiment- Pebbles)

See?  I told you it was super, duper simple. :)
Enjoy the rest of your week and gracias for stopping by.  :)

Cherish the Moment

Happy Veteran's Day!

I've never been in the military, but I want to say "THANK YOU" to all the brave men and women who have helped ensure and protect our freedom.  I appreciate ALL you are doing and have done in serving this country.

And speaking of gratitude, I am sharing a "grateful" layout today.  I have taken 2 challenges and combined them on a layout. Here are the challenges:

1. I used the colors from the photo inspiration challenge at City Crafter Challenge Blog

I just love this color palette.

2. The layout sketch from Sketch N Scrap blog

Layout Sketches due November 30th

And here is my layout:

And some detail pictures:

I used modeling paste for the first time.  I was apprehensive at first and didn't want to ruin the layout.  But I think I'm a new fan of it, even though the results were less than stellar for my first try.

(Supplies: cardstock, pattern paper- Creative Imaginations, sequins, modeling paste, stencil- Prima, photo corners, rub-on words- Deja Views, typewriter, stitching)

I am truly grateful for the family God has given me.  I think I am going to continue documenting my gratitude for the rest of November.  How about you?  What are you grateful for?
One more thing I am grateful for is when you take the time to visit my little blog world.  :)  I appreciate you!

Happy Crafting,
Angie

P.S.  I have deleted the section regarding My Mind's Eye.  I will not be entering that challenge, but for some reason the updates aren't being saved.  Therefore, I'm only entering 2 challenges.  I apologize for the confusion.

Frosty Friends

Happy Friday!

Got any plans for the weekend?  Hopefully, you'll be surrounded by loved ones and crafty things.  :)

Today I am sharing another embossing card.  I used heat embossing for this one.  I have used heat embossing before, but I learned something new after this card.  What's the lesson? READ the label on the embossing bottle! :p

I used a white embossing powder, so I expected a white image.  Right?  Wrong.
Mind you, I kept embossing and scratching my head wondering why my images weren't white.  Hmm, maybe I should check the bottle.  Transparent powder!!

Lesson learned. :p  So, I decided to just roll with it.  And here is the result.

(Supplies: all stamps images- Recollections, ink- black, white, Versa Mark, sequins, embossing powder- Stamp-n Stuff, heat gun, sponge dauber)

I am also submitting this card to Cas-ual Fridays embossing challenge.

On a different note- there is a Caring Hearts Card Drive going on till Nov. 28.  This card drive is collecting Holiday cards for Nursing Homes in the US and Canada.  Here is the website if you'd like more info.:  Ling's Design Studio

I hope you have an awesome, crafty weekend.  Thank you so, so, so much for stopping by.

Happy Crafting,
Angie

White Wedding

Hello!

How is your week going?  I'm a bit under the weather, so this might be a super short post.  Plus, its got my thoughts all muddled because I thought it was Tuesday!

Today I am sharing a card that I am submitting to Cas-ual Fridays.  Their current challenge is to create a project with embossing (dry or heat).  I really love this technique because it adds a touch of elegance to cards.

Here is my card:

I apologize for the "shadow" in this picture.  I was holding the backdrop with one hand and the camera in the other.

(Supplies: ribbon, Rox stones, stamp- American Crafts, black ink, embossing folder- Anna Griffin)

What about you?  Do you enjoy the embossing technique?
Well, my bloggy, crafty friends, I bid you good day.  Thank you for stopping by for a quick visit. :)

Happy Crafting,
Angie

Baby Dress

Hello Everyone!

Got any fun plans for the weekend?  I need to get some cleaning done, but I feel a strange, strong force pulling me into my craft room. ;)

A few weeks ago, a dear friend revealed that she's expecting.  We have no idea what the baby is yet, but I decided to get a head start and make a baby card.  I decided to make a girl card and later I'll make a boy card.  So I'll be prepared either way. :)

I printed the dress shape from the Paper Crafts Magazine online freebie section.  I stenciled the flower pattern with a Martha Stewart stencil.  The "lace" was created with a Martha Stewart punch.

(Supplies: dress shape pattern, stencil and punch- Martha Stewart, ribbon, button, image & sentiment stamps- Papertrey Ink, sponge dauber, ink- Color Box in Frost, black)

Alright, time for me to figure out which force will win- cleaning or crafting. :)  And as for you, enjoy your weekend and thank you for visiting.  I really appreciate it.

Happy Crafting,
Angie

Pasta Placemats

Happy Weekend!!

Did you enjoy Halloween?  We sure did.  Aside from being a fun, spooky holiday, it's also my mum's birthday.  :)  So we got together, ate a LOT, and the little ones went trick or treating.

Well, today I will be sharing the gift that I made for my momma.  A while back she got a new table that seats 8 people.  Yes, it's a big table, but it's also a big family. :p  So what do you think I made her?.... That's right! Placemats!

Here is the front side:

Here is back side 1:

Here is back side 2:

(Supplies: fabric- Joann's and Beverly's Fabrics, sewing machine & other notions)

What do I mean by back side 1 and 2?  When I bought the bandana fabric, I only got 1 yard for a totally different project.  Then I decided to use it for the placemats and went to get more.  Apparently, they were different and didn't even notice till I began to pin them together!  Luckily, mom was ok with it. :)

Whole set:

I hope she liked them. :)  And I hope you enjoy your weekend.  Thank you so, so much for stopping by.  It warms my heart when you do.  :)

Happy Crafting,
Angie
